Swizz Beatz Demonstrates How to Support Your Spouse
Well, Alicia Keys did it. She went make-up free, and it has stirred up a lot of controversy over the last couple of months. Alicia felt like she was covering up her true self, and she wanted to be free. To help people understand her decision, Alicia made a statement about her journey to self discovery. She said, “I don’t want to cover up anymore. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing.”
There has been a significant amount of backlash, and negative statements that have come from her decision. People have called her a fake feminist, accused her of wearing make-up, described her as looking “worn out”, and there are many individuals who say she has gone too far with the no makeup movement.
One of the most significant comments about this controversy has come from within Alicia’s household. Her husband, Swizz Beatz, has a lot to say. Swizz said, “Why are you talking about my wife? Don’t you have anything better to do? ” Well, that’s not really what he said, but Swizz did make it clear; he is supporting her decision not to wear make-up. Check out his response; he is in her corner actively backing her decision not to wear make-up. He is sending the message, I am here for you. I am by your side even in the midst of strong criticism. He has gone as far as making positive comments about her new look. That’s right, his wife does not need make-up to look good.
What can we take from this? Why is Swizz’s presence even worth mentioning? After all, this is Alicia’s passion. For starters, support is an essential ingredient in a successful relationship. Being supportive in a relationship is believing in your spouse, and encouraging him or her to be their best self. It feels good to be supported, to know that someone “has your back.” It’s extra special when the rays of support come from your significant other, because your spouse or partner plays an important role in your life.
If you’re thinking about how you can be supportive to your significant other this week, you’re on the right track. Take Swizz’s approach as an example of the many ways that you can show your partner support. Showing support is a pro relationship skill, and it will definitely help keep your relationship boosted. So what are you waiting for? Get to it!
Y'all, me choosing to be makeup free doesn't mean I'm anti-makeup. Do you! 😘😘 pic.twitter.com/Mg0Ug9YA9q
